Jammerndes Kind: “aber wir waren doch gestern schon draussen!”
Yesterday, I finally figured out how to use my Tajine on my induction stove. Attempts with various “adapter plates” were a bust, the Tajine just wouldn’t heat up properly while said adapter got hot as hell, causing the stove to shut off. I have now bought a very shallow cast-iron pan (called “pizza pan”) that is sightly wider than the Tajine at the base. Using this and putting about 5mm of oil on it (i.e. under the Tajine!) finally enhanced heat-flow enough. Yay! #cooking

the other day (in spring) I got a roll of Fujifilm Acros, which exists again, based on the fact that the Acros simulation in Fujifilm digital cameras looks very nice. Turns out, it’s not easy to expose correctly, most of all if you use an old point-and-shoot (Minolta HiMatic GF). Lots of mushy, flat grey pics. BUT: the “haze removal” module in #darktable helps a lot with that!

TIL that GNU Octave does have a dark mode for its GUI, it’s just not an obvious one-click toggle in the “view” menu. My eyes are happy!
today I realized that, since it’s made of cast iron, a dutch oven will work nicely on an induction plate (if it’s a dutch oven without stubby feet). Large amounts of veggie Chili were made as a result of this discovery.
heute wurden in #ulm in der Herrenkellergasse neu Fußgängerzonen-Schilder aufgestellt (endlich!). Mindestens fünf Autofahrer beobachtet, die die Schilder völlig entgeistert anstarrten, während sie in die Straße rein fuhren
warum haben die in #fulda Ampelmännchen, die bei grün aussehen wie Darth Vader mit Bischofsstab? (“ich bin dein Nikolaus”)
habe meinen Kindern soeben erklärt, warum jemand aus der Straßenbahn ausstieg und mit einem langen Stock in der Weiche gestochert hat. Das siebenjährige Kind meint “wollen wir uns so einen Stock mal kaufen und dann damit alles durcheinander bringen?” … irgendwie bin ich stolz.
